Using Pillar on Mobile

How to browse the map, inspect parcels, and use layers from your phone.

Using Pillar on Mobile#

Pillar's map is fully functional on your phone. You can search for properties, inspect parcel data, view contacts, generate zoning reports, and toggle data layers — all from a mobile browser.

On mobile, the left navigation rail is hidden to give you a full-screen map. Pan and zoom with standard touch gestures — pinch to zoom, drag to pan.

The crosshair#

Instead of tapping to select parcels, mobile uses a crosshair model. A white + icon is fixed at the center of your screen. As you pan the map, the parcel under the crosshair is automatically selected and highlighted. This gives you precise control on a touchscreen without accidentally tapping the wrong parcel.

The crosshair activates at zoom level 13 and above — zoom in until you can see individual parcels.

Property details#

When a parcel is selected, a bottom drawer slides up from the bottom of the screen. It has two states:

  • Compact (30%) — shows basic info while keeping the map visible and interactive. You can keep panning the map with the drawer open.
  • Expanded (85%) — pull the drawer up to see full property details. Pull it back down to return to compact mode.

Three tabs are available:

  • Details — ownership, acreage, APN, zoning, assessment values, last sale info
  • Contacts — skip traced owner contact information
  • Zoning — full zoning report with permitted uses and development standards

The search bar at the top of the map works the same as desktop — type an address, owner name, or APN to find properties. Search results show properties, projects, and tasks.

Map layers#

Tap the Layers button (bottom-right corner) to open the layers drawer. From here you can:

  • Switch between basemaps (Streets, Light, Dark, Satellite, Google Hybrid, Sentinel-2)
  • Toggle any Pillar data layer on or off (infrastructure, environmental, demographics, etc.)
  • Toggle parcel owner labels

My Location#

Tap the location button (above the Layers button) to fly the map to your current GPS position. This is useful for scouting properties in the field.

What's desktop-only#

Some features are optimized for larger screens and are not available on mobile:

  • Direct mail — the Letters tab is hidden on mobile
  • Street View — the Google Street View embed is hidden on mobile
  • Owner Portfolio — the aggregated owner portfolio section is hidden on mobile
  • View switching — Lists, Projects, Tasks, Skiptraces, and Letters views require navigating directly via URL on mobile

For the full Pillar experience including CRM, lists, and outreach tools, use a desktop browser.
